Cebu City—Thousands of jobs have been created thanks to the sustained economic growth in the Philippines, with the construction sector touted as the largest contributor according to the 2018 Labor Force Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. The Aboitiz Group, through construction arm Aboitiz Construction Inc., is one of the biggest employers of Filipino skilled workers. Among the big projects that the company has lined up for this year is the logistics facility of Metro Pacific Movers Inc. in Cavite province, called the South Mega Distribution Center.“With this, we really have to recruit aggressively at the sites where we construct our projects. About 85 percent of these jobs will be mobilized for our Visayas and Mindanao operations. This is how we deliver our brand promise to advance business and communities by delivering quality engineering, design and construction services that generate sustainable shareholder returns, provide nation-building opportunities for its suppliers and partners, and provide a safe workplace and rewarding careers for our Kauban employees,” he said.Aboitiz Construction’s shared value creating impact is a part of the company’s reputation as a trusted and respected engineering, design and construction company in the Philippines with a global footprint in 18 countries built over its 44 years of operations. The company’s projects range from storage tank construction and modular fabrication to engineering and design and site development catering to various clients in the shipbuilding, power, mining, manufacturing, logistics and housing and commercial sectors. With the anticipated growth in the infrastructure industry, Aboitiz Construction vice president for human resources Nina Pedro said there would be plenty of job opportunities for those in the engineering, architecture, project management, supply chain operations and for OFWs who wish to return to the country.“We anticipate large-scale projects to kick off this year which all require massive recruitment for skilled workers. Along with this, we are also looking for business development specialists, estimators, designers, project managers, supply chain and site human resources professionals to add to our teams. As our business grow and expand here and offshore, we will also grow our Kauban count and capability,” she said.
